Portfolio > Reimagining portraits

This painting has been quite an ambitious undertaking both in scale and complexity. Here I have tried to create a dysfunctional, culturally specific version of Norman Rockwell’s Thanksgiving. I am a big fan of William Hogarth’s paintings that are often scolding satires on the people and social stratifications of his time. Remaining within this tradition, I have used visual whilst emphasising grotesque cultural stereotypes, in an attempt to distill something of the times I live in.
